To locate our house in the map you need to look for a town called Bergerac (our house is also marked with a
). It is about 100 km east of Bordeaux, in a straight line. Then you look for Eymet, which is south west of Bergerac. Our house is in a hamlet called Cogulot, west of Eymet. Other places of interest have been marked with a
.
The quickest way to get there is taking the motorway A630 and head southward.
Then get on to the A62 (indicating Langon, Agen, Toulouse). Stay on this motorway until you reach Exit 4 at La Reole.
Remain on the D9 into La Reole and follow signs to Monsegur, Duras or Ste . Foy La Grande, following the D668 (direction Northeast). You go through Monsegur, and pass Duras on your left, not quite going into the town, but just on the outskirts. From here you can see Duras Castle on your left. You come to a crossroad. You turn right and immediately left almost as if you were going straight over. You go through Auriac, Moustier and La Sauvetat du Dropt. Here the road turns to the right at which point there is a turning on your left opposite La Poste (with yellow logo). Take the left turn here. From this point you will be able to see Chateau de Lauzanac at the brow of the hill ahead of you.
After 1.5km there is a small bridge and you need to take the next road on your left indicating St. Sulpice d’Eymet. Turn here and as you come up the hill there is a sharp bend to the right and one to the left, our drive is on the right hand side.
Head for the Centre Ville (town centre), once you are in the main square you look for the exit by the Veterinary. Take the small lane and turn left at the end of it. Soon after you will see a bridge on your right, go over it and follow the road to the left. Do not go straight where it indicates Ste. Eulalie d’Eymet or Soumensac!! You stay on this road for 3.5 km. During these 3.5 km you will pass a turn on your right indicating Cogulot and further on, a farm named Lauzanac. That is not it! But very soon after seeing the farm you will see a turn off on your right, indicating St Sulpice d’Eymet.(If you go over a bridge you have gone too far). Go up this road on your right, up the hill and at some point the road turns sharp right and then left. At this point on your right you will see our drive.
Take the N21 heading South of Perigeux, towards Bergerac. Then take the D936 and follow signs to D933 (signposted to Miramont, Seyches and Marmande) which will take you to Eymet, passing through Rouffignac de Sigoules, Fonroque and Eymet. Follow then instructions as above.
You want to come out of it before you get to Bordeaux and follow signs to Libourne. From here stay on the D670 to St Pey d’Armens. Follow signs to Castillon-la-Bataille and Ste Foy la Grande. As you are driving along this road watch out for signpost to Duras on the right (D708). Take this road and 9km later turn left to D13, straight to La Sauvetat du Dropt , where you turn left into the high street and left again opposite the post office (in yellow), for 2km. Pass over a small bridge and turn left immediately after the bridge, turning to St Eulalie and St Sulpice d’Eymet. Go up the hill and we are on the right hand side.
Come out of the airport and turn right. Follow signs to Bergerac. At the first roundabout turn left (to Bordeaux). At the second roundabout turn left to Miramont and Marmande. 18m later you will arrive in Eymet. Follow signs from Eymet as above.
The guest house is the wing of the chateau to the left as you go up the drive, by the willow tree. The entrance to Blanchette is down the side path and into the summer veranda.
I do hope you have a very pleasant stay at Lauzanac and safe trip there!
